The St. Louis BattleHawks are one of the founding members of the XFL. They were founded in 2020 by being part of the eight locations that would join the new XFL, in addition to Seattle, Los Angeles, New York, Houston, DC, Tampa Bay and Dallas. The team announced its first player: former Ole Miss Rebels quarterback Jordan Ta’amu.

The BattleHawks won their first game on February 8, 2020, setting the pace in the dallas renegades with a score of 15-9. On March 12, 2020, the league announced that the remainder of the 2020 XFL season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The franchise finished with a 3-2 record.
