Voting has begun in various parts of local government areas in Kano state with the New Nigeria People’s Party seeking to repeat its dominance in the presidential and national assembly elections in the ongoing gubernatorial and assembly elections. state.

THE WHISTLE reported that the NNPP cleared 17 of the 24 House seats in the state, as well as two senatorial seats, with former state governor Rabiu Kwankwaso leading the party.

At the Babar Riga Voting Unit, Makoda Local Government Tukui City, voters in their number are seen lining up to be accredited through the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System machine, at 9:00 am.

The state’s All Progressive Congress gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, cast his ballot at his polling unit in the Nasarawa local government area, Kano.

With the result of the previous elections, the race in Kano appears to be between NNPP gubernatorial candidate Abba Kabir-Yusuf and Guwuna.

Both seek to replace outgoing Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

While the NNPP candidate will ostensibly take advantage of Kwankwaso’s popularity, Gawuna would hope that the incumbency of power works in his favor.
