Thugs shoot police and voter during attack on voting units in Ondo


A policeman and another person were shot during a shootout between police and thugs that disrupted voting at some polling stations in Ondo state.

The thugs destroyed ballot boxes and other voting materials in 9 of 12 voting units during the gubernatorial and state assembly elections held in the Ute community’s 12th district in the Ose local government area of ​​the state.

Party agents confirmed that criminals destroyed ballot boxes in boxes 1, 2, 3, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 15 of the electoral precinct.

Eyewitnesses who spoke to THE WHISTLER said the policeman and the other victim were rushed to a hospital, while one of the thugs was arrested with weapons.

Confirming the incident to our correspondent, Ondo Police Command spokesman Funmilayo Omisanya, the victims were hit by stray bullets.

“A suspect involved in the shooting was arrested while recovering a pump-action rifle with 2 live cartridges,” Omisanya said.
