Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, recently gave a speech at the company. He posted slides from the speech revealing some features Musk plans to add to Twitter 2.0. The slides also contain some statistics about the company since he took office. In simple terms, Twitter 2.0 is Musk’s vision for the social media platform.
According to data revealed by Musk, as of November 16, the number of new registrations on Twitter reached an all-time high. In specific terms, it reached an average of 2 million per day in the last 7 days. This is a 66% increase over the same period last year. The number of active minutes of users reached an average of 8 billion minutes per day in the last 7 days. This is also a 30% increase over the previous year. Both numbers are all-time highs.
Expectations of Twitter 2.0
Furthermore, the slides reveal that hate speech is now less on Twitter. However, fake accounts initially rose and then fell. This is for reported cases of identity theft. The slide also lists the features and goals that Musk has formulated for Twitter 2.0. This includes features like longer tweets, videos, payments, encrypted DMs, blue check relaunch, and advertising as a service. Judging by the slideshow, Twitter is also resuming hiring after massive layoffs and resignations.
Let’s remember that after Elon Musk took over Twitter, launched into a wave of gunfire. He started with the top executives and fired four of them the same day he stepped on Twitter. A few days later, no fewer than 3,500 Twitter employees were laid off. At the moment, there is no job security at Twitter and not everyone can cope with the stress. About 1,000 Twitter employees eventually quit. This reduced the company’s workforce from 7,000 to just over 2,500. Now it looks like Elon Musk will hire some experts to get Twitter up and running again.
