A concertgoer said conditions during a weather delay at Taylor Swift’s Nashville show last Sunday were dangerously close, comparing it to the surge in crowds at the Astroworld festival in Houston that left 10 people dead in October 2021.
Swift performed her third show on The Eras Tour in Music City last Sunday at Nissan Stadium, where fans were told to shelter-in-place for three hours amid a severe weather advisory for the area.
A woman named Andrea under the TikTok username @fantastic__fiction said in a clip on the social media site that she felt “uncomfortable, insecure and terrified” amid the incident.
“I love Taylor Swift with all my heart, I’m one of her biggest fans,” Andrea said, noting that she left the arena about two-thirds of the way through the concert.
Andrea said she had VIP seats for the show, adding that “everyone in the lower bowl and floor seats had to climb under the stadium seats where the concessions are and shelter in place until it happened.”

Andrea said that “at first, it was a bit crowded, but that was okay” as the concertgoers “had some space” but were ultimately “standing shoulder to shoulder with nowhere to go”.
Andrea said that at her height of five feet, “everyone was towering over her” and “it got really tight in there.”
She continued: “I literally thought it was going to be, like, another Travis Scott fatality, I’ve never been so scared for the life of me.”
“I couldn’t leave, I couldn’t move, there was nowhere to go.”
Andrea said security guards at the scene behaved aggressively as paramedics tried to push their way through the crowd as “several people.” [were] falling left and right and fainting.
Andrea said that “when it was finally time for the show, chaos broke out on the floor” as she was “literally in tears and couldn’t enjoy the show”, and her partner was almost swept away under the masses “because of the crowd”.
Andrea said that the continued inclement weather caused her to leave the location, not wanting to risk getting involved in any more dangerous situations.
“When lightning started to strike… I had to get out of there because I wasn’t going to be in another crowd situation,” he said.

The gates to the venue were opened and concertgoers in their vehicles were advised to remain there.
The Grammy winner herself took to Twitter to keep fans updated on the situation, stating that she would perform when she could.
“I know there’s talk of a rainy weather environment tonight, but I’m ready to play, see you soon!” she said.
In the evening, Swift’s concert was delayed by more than three hours, as she began her performance at 10:30 p.m. and finished around 2:00 a.m. CT.
