Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville finished the job in Bloomington.
Three-time state runner-up in the CI Division – including last season – the Hot Cats climbed the top rung of the ladder for the first time Saturday with a 15-6 win over New Prague/TCU/LSH/Belle Plaine/Jordan to win a state floor hockey crown and avenge last year’s game loss to the same opponent.
In the process, the Blazing Cats (10-1) also avenged their only loss of the season. They fell 8-2 to the Trojans (9-1) in early February. Offense fueled the Blazing Cats, who scored 13-plus goals in all three state wins, including a 27-goal performance in the quarterfinals.
Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville featured Cayleigh Sorenson, Riley Deutsch, Katelyn Brunes, Eric Rodriguez, Ryan Maltby, Aaron Blood, Clarke Ruhland, Angel Figueroa, Caden Roseth and Drayden Fox.
DIVISION PI
Brainerd (11-0) rallied over top-seeded Dakota United 4-3 in the PI Division championship contest.
The title is Brainerd’s third in its last four state tournament appearances and avenged last season’s title game loss to Dakota United (10-2).
