Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless: design, features, sound quality and much more.

The Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless are a fantastic pair of wireless on-ear headphones with excellent active noise cancellation, remarkable features, and excellent sound and call quality.

Plus, they’re incredibly light and comfortable, and the 60-hour battery life is another reason why they’re unbeatable at this price point.

Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless Design

Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless

Sennheiser opted to completely redesign the design of the over-ear headphones for the Momentum 4 Wireless, swapping out the attractive vintage look of the Momentum 3 Wireless for a more popular style.

As a result, the leather and stainless steel headband that doubled as a slider to adjust the earcups and the retro styling that made the Momentum 3 Wireless over-ears so instantly recognizable and desirable are no longer available. .

New headphone designs generally emphasize weight reduction, but the Sennheiser ones are a bit heavier, weighing in at 10.3 ounces and measuring 7 x 7.67 x 1.82 inches.

Nonetheless, the soft ear cushions make for quite adequate comfort levels. It’s easy to get the right fit, with the earbuds in the ideal position for your ears and the right comfort levels.

Plus, the unique swivel hinge system allows the headphones to fit precisely in the ear while folding up for storage in the included travel bag.

The new Momentums now support Bluetooth 5.2, which means they can connect to multiple Bluetooth devices simultaneously and switch between them more easily.

Sennheiser Smart Control software lets you manage device connections while tinkering with the equalizer, altering ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) settings, and performing a ‘sound check’.

Like Sennheiser’s Momentum True Wireless 3 headphones, Sound Check removes any worries about equalizer adjustment by simply asking you to select your favorite sound (A, B or C) in three instances while playing a song to assess the desired balance. The result is the desired ‘profile’.

You can also create ‘Sound Zones’, which are profiles with specific equalization and noise isolation settings that will turn on or off when you and the headphones enter or leave a certain radius.

For example, do you want ANC to kick in when you leave the house or for the levels in between to become more prominent when you get to work? Sound Zones obey your commands.

The battery life of the Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless is excellent. The manufacturer claims that they will last 60 hours with their ANC on, which is exceptional.

However, battery life may vary based on usage. Fortunately, they include a sleep timer to help preserve battery life while not in use, and you can even use them passively or while charging.

Sound quality

The Momentum 4 Wireless’ presentation is hard to miss, as it’s clear and to the point in a way that grabs your attention. They sound crisp and lively, and the extra thinness hasn’t come at the price of substance across the entire frequency range:

The treble is well tuned.
The mids are pleasantly plump.
The basses strike a delicate balance between tight and stubby.

Whatever genre you throw at the Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless, you’ll be blown away by its open, detailed, spacious, balanced and crisp sound. It’s never too warm and never too stuffy or muddy through the bass.

Verdict

Although the Sennheiser Momentum 3 Wireless was a step forward but not a game changer, the Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless headphones raised the bar significantly.

The redesigned look won’t set the M4W apart from the rest, but the 60-hour battery life raises the bar for the industry and makes it the best. Add Sennheiser’s straightforward sound and good noise cancellation.

As a result, the Momentum 4 are the most feasible wireless headphones we’ve seen, perfectly designed for life on the go rather than being tethered to a mains socket and requiring daily battery recharges.
