Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for governor Olajide Adediran (Jandor) accused Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of closing the markets of Lagos for the All Progressives Congress (APC) demonstration for Bola Tinubu.
The APC presidential campaign is underway at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere.
Adediran said the Lagos government forced traders from major markets to attend the event.
A statement from his campaign spokesman, Gbenga Ogunleye, noted that the leaders had complained about a directive not to open today.
The Lagos State Parks and Garages Management Committee, led by Musiliu Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo, reportedly threatened to punish merchants who flouted the order.
Jandor called the alleged action by the state government “callous, callous, barbaric and criminal.”
The standard bearer said that the merchants are free citizens whose right to do business is protected by the constitution.
“Any act to intimidate or threaten them into attending a program against their wish is criminal and inhumane,” the statement read.
He warned authorities to stop inflicting pain on people trying to survive the harsh economy “that the CPA at the federal and state level has thrown the nation into.”
Jandor advised Lagos residents to keep hope alive as they “endure the remaining days of the inept APC-led administration.”
