RCB vs KKR: Who won yesterday’s match in IPL 2023?

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beat Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 21 runs in yesterday’s Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Sent out to bat after losing the toss, Kolkata posted 200/5 as Jason Roy (56 for 29) and Nitish Rana (48 for 21) played quick hits. His players then held Bangalore at 179/8 despite a half-century from Virat Kohli.

When asked to bat first, Kolkata did a great job posting 200/5. Openers Roy and N Jagadeesan (27 for 29) added 83 in 9.2 overs to lay a solid foundation for the batting side.

Roy was the dominant teammate in the stands for some distance, starting by hitting Mohamed Siraj by two boundaries in the first envelope. He then faced Shahbaz Ahmed in the latter part of the power play, hitting him for four sixes on five balls. Roy went on to reach 22 ball fifty.

The opening position ended when Jagadeesan pulled Vijaykumar Vyshak into deep midwicket. In the same over, the RCB pacer also dismissed Roy when the KKR batsman crawled through his stumps and missed a yorker.

However, some poor fielding hurt Bangalore’s cause. KKR the Rana skipper was released twice. In five, Siraj dropped a simple catch on Vyshak’s bowling toss. Rana ran all the way to 19th when Harshal Patel dropped him with a fine leg, this time off Siraj’s bowling.

Venkatesh Iyer chipped in with 31 for 26. Rinku Singh (18* for 10) and David Wiese (12* for 13) then found crucial boundaries in the last two overs to lift KKR to 200. Wiese scored two sixes off Harshal in the 20th. overs.

Roy and Rana played some good shots to ensure Kolkata scored well. Chakaravarthy then put RCB on the back foot, claiming 3/27. Suyash and Russell contributed two each.

For RCB, Hasaranga impressed at 2/24, while Kohli chipped in a challenging half-century with the bat.

Chakaravarthy was named Man of the Match for his impressive three-wicket haul.
