There’s a news dump from Friday, and then there’s a news dump from Day 1 of the NFL draft.
That’s precisely where news of Lamar Jackson’s extension fell when the Baltimore Ravens announced they agreed in principle to sign the former 2019 NFL MVP to a five-year contract extension.
There was much consternation during the offseason when the Ravens placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on Jackson. In theory, any team could also have dealt with Jackson. The problem is that they would have to give up two first-round picks to acquire Jackson’s playing rights on top of the new contract.
Twitter was relieved that Jackson agreed in principle with the Ravens. These are some of the best shots.
LFGGGGG!!!!! WE ARE WINNING THE SUPERBOWL

Lamar Jackson signing a contract to bring generational wealth to his family, five years after sitting in the green room with his mother, watching the picks go by as he went down in the draft… it’s hard not to get excited. What a player. what a story pic.twitter.com/C7olaL9bwy

Lamar Jackson held the Baltimore Ravens accountable before signing his future with the organization. As fans, we will see a better quality of football as a result.
That’s huge. The Baltimore Ravens are going to win many more football games. #CrowsFlock

Very interested to see how Lamar Jackson will fare in this offensive ‘new look’ for the Ravens.
But they need to do better than OBJ. The Ravens WR group has been ridiculously bad for years.— J🍩ey Bag 🍩f D🍩nuts 🍩 (@joeybagovdonuts) April 27, 2023
Lamar Jackson was available. Teams in need of QB decided to stick with Desmond Ridder, Sam Howell and whatever the Colts are up to. Remember when those teams go 4-13 this year…

Lamar Jackson landed the highest-paying contract in the NFL without an agent.
To summarize, always bet on yourself

Lamar Jackson just secured the bag! 💰
He resigned with the Baltimore Ravens on a 5-year, $260 million contract ($52 million annually), making him the highest-paid new QB in the NFL.
QB is no longer a draft necessity for the Ravens, there is no need to speculate on the trade. #NFL #CrowsFlock
