President-elect Tinubu and Betara hold meeting behind closed doors

10th House speaker hopeful Muktar Betara held a closed-door meeting with Speaker-elect Bola Tinubu on Tuesday.

Mr Betara, a member representing Biu/Bayo/Shani and Borno’s Kwaya Kusar federal constituency, has been soliciting support for his speaker ambition with party members, elected legislators, former legislators and other stakeholders.

This is contained in a statement from Mr. Betara’s campaign press office in Abuja on Wednesday.

“Betara’s campaign and consultation with the president-elect is one of the many consultations that he had embarked on in the last three months prior to his inauguration in June,” the statement said. Betara, who currently chairs the House Appropriation Committee, had exchanged friendly pleasantries with the incoming commander-in-chief shortly after having some photo ops.

The statement added: “Betara’s consultative visit to the president-elect took place at his new official residence at the Defense House in Abuja, following the latter’s return from holidays and minor Muslim Hajj in Saudi Arabia.”
