Prepare for loss, Governor Fintiri mocks opponents in Guber poll

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa state, who is also the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate for Saturday’s elections, has taunted his opponents into preparing for defeat.

Fintiri told opposition political parties to be ready to accept defeat at the end of the ongoing governorship and House of Assembly election.

Speaking shortly after casting his vote in unit 004 in the Madagali local government area’s Kirchinga district, Fintiri, who is a major candidate, said he was optimistic he would win the election.

He expressed his satisfaction with the conduct of the election up to the time he voted around noon, urging INEC to ensure that the entire process is credible.

In the gubernatorial election, Fintiri faces a major opponent in the person of Senator Aishatu Ahmed Binani, who is running in the gubernatorial election as the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate.

Twelve other candidates were registered for the election, but six of them had resigned from Fintiri earlier, while one, Labor Party candidate Umar Mustapha, resigned from Binani.
