Pakistan launches new anti-polio campaign amid surge in cases – KESQ

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Health officials say Pakistan has launched a new national campaign against polio amid a surge in new cases among children. Monday’s campaign is the sixth campaign of this type this year and will last for five days, with the aim of vaccinating children under 5 years of age in high-risk areas. The latest anti-polio campaign has been launched in the capital Islamabad and in the country’s high-risk districts of eastern Punjab and the southwestern province of Balochistan. A similar campaign will also launch in the North West in the first week of December. Pakistan’s polio campaigns are also supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
