“They are having a hard time convincing their outside supporters why they can’t beat us. A combination of overconfidence, complacency and poor tactical play got them losing, clear and clear. This has created more problems in his camp,” Buhari said Thursday while hosting the Progressive Governors Forum led by its chairman, Kebbi State Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.
INEC declared APC’s Bola Tinubu the winner of the presidential election despite allegations of electoral infringements and fraud made by PDP’s Atiku Abubakar and LP’s Peter Obi.
Both men have approached the Presidential Election Tribunal.
Buhari said that while the ruling APC was fighting to retain power in the central, opposition leaders were using poor tactics that caused them to lose the election.
He stated that opposition leaders are now finding it difficult to accept the election result favoring APC Mr Tinubu due to his overconfident nature.
“They were already telling their foreign backers that they would defeat the APC. Our Party combined trust with caution, we worked hard and we won. Now, his overconfidence is creating more problems for the opposition than for anyone else,” Buhari added.
