‘Our children are bandits, kidnappers’, how do we solve them? – Sultan asks Fulani leaders

The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has acknowledged that some Fulani children are involved in acts of banditry and kidnapping throughout the country.

The renowned monarch, who is also Chairman General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), expressed concern over the situation, saying that fulanis it is known that they are peaceful people, but that some ranchers among them have chosen to participate in crime.

Naija News understands that Abubakar seeks to resolve the situation by speaking during the inauguration of the new leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Abuja on Sunday.

While wondering why some of the Fulani children suddenly became banditry and kidnapping, Abubakar instructed the new MACBAN executives to treat the situation as urgent, urging them to help the Federal Government address insecurity in the country.

While stating that the threat to divide the country stems from certain things Nigerians are not doing right, the NSCIA chief urged the association to take a critical look at the matter.

The Sultan said: “If we had known the history of the Fulani movement in various parts of the world definitely, we would not have reached the situation we are in now.

“Everyone knows that Fulani move from point A to point B. They move everywhere and marry each other. And we are peace lovers.

“But how did we get to the situation we find ourselves in now, we find our children who are Fulani, but not all of them Fulani have been involved in banditry and kidnapping. What happened?

“When we meet with the executives, we will discuss how to approach this. How do we solve them because it’s about time we did?

“Because we can’t sit back and look at this country and divide ourselves into factions just because of certain things that we’re not doing right.”

Naija News understands that the Governor of Yobe State, mai mala buni he also honored the inauguration of the new management of MACBAN.
