Odell Beckham Jr. was taken off a plane at Miami International Airport on Sunday due to health concerns. According to police, the free agent wide receiver was “in and out of consciousness.” He has since commented on the incident on Twitter.
“Never in my life have I experienced what just happened to me…” Beckham tweeted afterwards. “I’ve seen it all…”
The flight crew expressed concern that Beckham was seriously ill; however, he refused to leave the plane. Police arrived at the scene to evacuate the plane.
The Miami-Dade Police Department has since released a statement regarding the incident.
“The flight crew was concerned about a passenger [Mr. Odell Beckham], while they were trying to wake him up to fasten his seat belt, he appeared to be losing consciousness before his departure,” police said in a statement. “Fearing that Mr. Beckham was seriously ill and that his condition would worsen during the expected 5-hour flight, attendees called the police and fire brigade. Upon the arrival of the officers, Mr. Beckham was asked several times by the flight crew to exit the plane, to which he refused.
The flight took off two hours later. Beckham decided to make other arrangements to travel to Los Angeles. He was not arrested.
Beckham is currently in the process of meeting with teams to potentially team up for the remainder of the NFL season. The Dallas Cowboys are considered to be the top contenders for the three-time Pro-Bowler. He is also considering the New York Giants, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers.
