Obi at Owerri Rally: I will resign from the presidential race if…

Labor Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has said he will withdraw from the 2023 presidential race if someone can point to a plot of land that was allocated illegally during his time as governor of Anambra state.

Obi said this on Tuesday during his campaign rally in Owerri, Imo state.

He reiterated that, as the former Governor of Anambra State, no corruption charges were brought against him during or after his tenure.

“Me and Datti are not corrupt. Our records are clean. Datti was a senator and I was a governor in Anambra. If you want to check my record, please go to Anambra state and check.

“As the governor of Anambra State, I did not allocate a plot of land to myself, my wife or my children. If they see any land that was assigned to me or any member of my family, I will withdraw from this race,” he said.

The former governor of Anambra noted that Imo state has the capacity to export palm seeds, a sector he has vowed to pay due attention to if he is elected president.

“We want to return to agriculture. That is why we want Nigeria to move from consumption to production. We will create jobs and we will export, export and export,” she said.

The LP candidate received an enthusiastic welcome as his supporters flocked to the campaign rally at the Kanu Nwankwo Sports Stadium, Owerri.

Earlier, Obi met Governor Hope Uzodinma at Sam Mbakwe Airport, where the two exchanged pleasantries and shared a warm hug.
