North Korea launches missile into sea amid US-South Korean exercises – KESQ

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Japan says North Korea launched a suspected missile into the sea. Japan’s coast guard said it confirmed that what appeared to be a North Korean missile was fired on Sunday morning. Further details of the launch were not immediately available, she said. South Korea’s Yonhap news agency quoted the South’s military as saying North Korea had fired a ballistic missile into its eastern waters. Calls to the Southern Joint Chiefs of Staff were not immediately returned on Sunday. The launch, if confirmed, would be the North’s fourth round of weapons tests since the US and South Korean militaries began joint military exercises last week. The North sees the drills as an invasion rehearsal.
