Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has scrapped the All Progressives Congress (APC) zoning deal for the leadership of the 10th National Assembly.
Akeredolu described APC’s zoning formula as a skewed arrangement that reinforces injustice and increases inequity.
In a statement he signed, the governor said the North Central and Northeast should have been considered in the zoning agreement.
Akeredolu said the zoning arrangement was an early sign of an attempt to “cabin” the incoming administration of President-elect Bola Tinubu.
According to Akeredolu, the “intentions and motives of the zoning formula represent early signs of steps aimed at trying to win over the hard-won presidency for our leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, by a few people with their eyes on the buttons.” Aso Rock ignition”.
The governor emphasized that “it is trite to affirm that it is logical in the head that a geopolitical area, the Northwest in this sense, will be favored with two president posts out of four while the North Center suffers the consequences for its innocence and cunning loyalty. not having any.
The APC chief said zoning National Assembly leadership posts due to vested interests close to Tinubu laid a dangerous foundation of mistrust, unnecessary suspicion and a “booby-trapped combination”. We must avoid all this.”
Emphasizing that it was insidious to ignore the Northeast in the zoning deal despite its largesse, the governor said it’s self-repudiation to argue that the “speaker of the House of Representatives can’t come from the Northeast either.”
