Misbah-ul-Haq set to join PCB as adviser – Thelocalreport.in

Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq will join the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as an adviser to the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management committee. Pakistan Cricket Board Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf has told the media that Misbah has turned down a full-time paid position on the board, but has agreed to head a cricket committee and be its cricket and technical adviser on an honorary basis.

“I am happy that Misbah has agreed to work with us to advance Pakistani cricket,” Ashraf said.

Ashraf said Misbah is expected to help the board form a cricket committee that would include other former players.

“I want to involve our old stalwarts to help us make cricketing and technical decisions,” Ashraf said, adding that Misbah would also help the board at ICC meetings and other forums.

Speaking of other important matters, Ashraf added: “We will soon also look at the national selection committee in due course, as well as the chief selector position (which) is vacant at the moment.” Pakistan’s most successful Test captain with 26 wins from 56 Tests at the helm, Misbah last worked at the PCB as head coach and chief selector between 2019 and 2021.

He had stepped down as chief selector at the end of 2020, but was the head coach of the Pakistan team until the end of 2021, when Ramiz Raja, after taking over as PCB president, forced him to resign before the T20 World Cup.

A source on the board said that despite Ashraf wanting Misbah to take a permanent role in the PCB, the latter refused, citing his media and other commitments this year. Misbah’s appointment is an honorary position, which means he will receive no remuneration for his services.
