‘Maybe not’: Carragher sends Arsenal warning after Newcastle win – Thelocalreport.in

Jamie Carragher has said in Sky Sports Premier League (10:24pm, March 17, 2023) that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United might not be in as good a position next season.

The former Liverpool defender believes that both Arsenal and Newcastle need to take advantage of their situation now.

Arsenal are at the top of the Premier League table at the moment and could win the title this season.

Only defending champions Manchester City could realistically prevent them from becoming English champions.

Newcastle are very much in the running for the top four in the Premier League.

Liverpool are struggling while Chelsea are unlikely to even challenge for UEFA Champions League places in the league table now.

Carragher made the comments after Newcastle beat Nottingham Forest 2-1 at the Premier League City Ground on Friday night.

The Sky Sports pundit warned Arsenal and Newcastle not to settle for anything less than the title and top four respectively.

Jamie Carragher on Arsenal and Newcastle United

Carragher said: “I think the only thing is that it reminds me a bit of Arsenal at the top of the table. It was unexpected. The Newcastle position they’re in, I wouldn’t say they have to win, but it doesn’t mean they’ve come that close, they’ll be in the same position next season.”

The pundit added: “I think in a way, and I’m not trying to put pressure on Newcastle, it’s vitally important to try to get fourth and not think it’s going to happen next season. Because maybe not. It may not be the same for Arsenal.”

Great opportunity

Jamie Carragher is right: Arsenal and Newcastle United have to seize the opportunity.

They just have to.

No one would have expected Arsenal to challenge for the Premier League title this season.

And nobody would have thought that Newcastle could end up in the UEFA Champions League places.

Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea will do better next season, as will Tottenham Hotspur.

So this season is huge for both Arsenal and Newcastle.
