Ľudovít Klein is one of two UFC fighters born in Slovakia.
Slovakia is a European country with a population of approximately 5.4 million. Among the millions of people, two are currently fighting in the UFC: Klein at lightweight and Martin Buday at heavyweight. Neither fighter is ranked, but they continue to put together entertaining fights.
After earning his UFC contract on Dana White’s Contender Series, Buday made his promotional debut in April 2022. He defeated Chris Barnett via technical decision due to an illegal elbow, ending the fight early. Four months later, ‘Badys’ won his second fight under the UFC banner by defeating Lukasz Brzeski via split decision. The 31-year-old heavyweight will make his third appearance in the Octagon against Jake Collier on April 29.
Meanwhile, Klein became the first born in Slovakia ufc fighter when he made his debut in September 2020. ‘Mr.Highlight’ quickly made a name for himself by defeating Shane Young with a first-round knockout. After defeating Young, the 28-year-old was involved in two ski fights losing to Mike Trizano and Nate Landwehr.
Klein rebounded from back-to-back losses with a split decision victory against Devonte Smith. Four months later, ‘Mr.Highlight’ pulled off an upset win against Mason Jones to continue to build momentum. The Slovakian-born wrestler had hoped to extend his winning streak on March 18, but things didn’t go as planned.
Ľudovít Klein vs. Jai Herbert ends in a majority draw
Ľudovít Klein made his sixth appearance in the octagon at the UFC 286 preliminary letter. The 28-year-old faced Jai Herbert, who was coming off a win against Kyle Nelson. Klein vs. Herbert featured several back and forth exchanges, but the result was altered by a third round point deduction from a low blow from ‘The Black Country Banger’.
Had Herbert not received a point deduction, he would have been awarded a unanimous decision victory. The bout was scored to a majority draw with the scorecard reading 29-28 and 28-28 x2. ‘The Black Country Banger’ left disappointed as he was unable to secure victory in front of his English fans.
