GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip have killed two militant commanders, and the death toll from the latest outbreak of fighting has risen to 28. Rocket fire into southern Israel continued on Thursday even as Egypt tried to negotiate a continued ceasefire. It was the worst fighting between Israel and Palestinian militants in Gaza in months and the dead also included women and children. It has also pushed the region closer to full-blown war. The conflagration comes at a time of rising tension and violence over the past year in the West Bank.
