The iPad Pro 2022 is barely distinguishable from the iPad Pro 2021 and iPad Pro 2020 in terms of design. This is just fine because its slim bezels and sleek machined aluminum body are still as eye-catching as ever.
The only shades available are Space Gray and Silver. This might disappoint those who expected the iPad Pro to come in as many colors as the new 2022 iPad.
The size and weight of the 2022 iPad Pro are the same as the previous year’s model: 11.04 x 8.46 x 0.25 inches and 1.5 pounds. The Magic Keyboard adds 3 pounds to the weight.
In terms of buttons and ports, nothing has changed. Holding the iPad upright like a piece of paper, there’s a button on the top-right edge to lock the screen and use Touch ID, two buttons on the right edge for volume up or down, and a single Thunderbolt 4/USB-C connector. at the bottom edge.
iPad Pro 2022 price and availability
The new iPad Pro 2022 is now available in the Apple online store. The 11-inch iPad Pro starts at $799, while the 12.9-inch iPad Pro costs $1,099; however, basic devices will only support Wi-Fi.
The 11-inch iPad Pro with Wi-Fi + Cellular starts at $999. The 12-inch Wi-Fi + Cellular model is $1,299.

The Apple Pencil is still accurate, with useful tilt detection and a good level of pressure detection. However, drawing the solid plastic tip onto the glass screen also seems tricky, which I don’t mind, but some do.
The fancy new feature is ‘hover over’ detection, which seems to be enabled on the new device via a coprocessor inside the M2 chip.
Anyone who’s used a drawing tablet will recognize the key feature: When you bring the Pen close to the screen, iPad can sense it and react.

iPad Pro 2022 performance
The M2 chip is the big talking point here, and it’s a monster. It has an octa-core CPU with four high-speed performance cores and four energy-efficient cores. This is paired with 8GB of RAM on the 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB models and 16GB of RAM on the 1TB and 2TB models.
For those who work in a supported wireless environment, the addition of Wi-Fi 6E is a great touch. This new, faster version of Wi-Fi hides your data from the rest of the network, ensuring high-speed and stable rates.

The quality of the iPad Pro 2022 camera
The cameras of the new iPad Pro are the same as those of the previous model. Depending on your expectations, this can be both positive and negative. This rear camera is excellent: it takes photos with superb brightness, pleasing contrast, beautiful colors, and reasonable detail.
The front camera is 12MP with an ultra-wide lens for Apple’s Center Stage feature. This means that the camera cuts into a part of its ultra-wide overview to focus on you. The rear camera can record 4K 60fps video.
Apple’s claim, as usual, is that the iPad Pro (2022) has up to 10 hours of battery life for basic operations like video and web browsing, and we previously said that Apple’s predictions are strict.
The iPad Pro 12.9 (2022) adds extra power and hover detection for the Apple Pencil, which isn’t a significant improvement over the previous model.
However, the latter is a fantastic feature that was executed well, cementing the iPad Pro as the drawing tablet of choice.
Thanks in part to a display that remains best-in-class and software selection superior to the form factor than anything else on the market, these changes ensure it will continue to be the best tablet around.
