Hulu shows may be coming to Disney Plus in 2023

In Disney’s recent rental earnings call, CEO Bob Iger said that some content from Hulu would be incorporated into Disney+. This combined “one app” experience will launch before the end of 2023.

This integration does not mean the end of individual applications. Iger said, “While we will continue to offer Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ as standalone options, this is a logical progression of our [direct-to-consumer] offerings that will provide greater opportunities for advertisers while giving bundle subscribers access to stronger, more optimized content, resulting in greater audience engagement and ultimately leading to a more unified streaming experience.” .

It has not yet been clarified what Hulu content will be coming to Disney+. There is also no exact release date for this feature.

On the same call, Iger said that Disney plans to increase subscription prices for Disney+. The exact increases were not mentioned, but Disney intends to increase prices for both the ad-free tier and the ad-supported plan. Disney and Hulu received price hikes in 2022.

According Variety, this planned integration is a sign that Disney intends to continue its ownership of Hulu. As of January 2024, Disney could buy Comcast from its 33% stake and take full control of the company. It is still unknown how Disney plans to proceed.
