“He has all the ingredients that Pollard has” – Tom Moody on Tim David’s role as MI finalist in IPL 2023

Former Australian cricketer Tom Moody believes that Tim David can excel in the role of runner-up for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) season.

Moody feels that David has the ability to fill Kieron PollardThe line shoes for the team based in Mumbai. He reckoned the swashbuckling hitter will improve as he plays more games.

Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Tom Moody explained:

“Kieron Pollard was one of the greats of the game and one of the great finishers. I think Tim David will potentially reach those heights, but he’s in the beginning stages of that particular role. He has all the ingredients that Pollard has. He just needs to learn and understand the game a little more. You’ll only get that with playing opportunities.”

Notably, Tim David has amassed 113 runs in seven games in IPL 2023 with a strike rate of 143.04.

He was dismissed for a two-ball duck during Mumbai’s clash against Gujarati Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, April 25.

“He’s the type of player that if there are a few runs on the board and he comes at a comfortable time, he’s extremely dangerous. It’s critical, but maybe the next step in his game is to get some early on the board.” ground, get an over, and then you can shoot. I felt like he pulled the trigger a little early tonight.”
