Governor Election: People are bummed out – Wike

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has expressed concern about low voter turnout during Saturday’s gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections in the state, insisting that people are discouraged.

Wike denounced the situation while casting her vote in District 9, Unit 7, Obio/Akpor, at 11:10 am

The governor blamed it on INEC’s disappointing performance during the February 25 presidential and National Assembly elections.

“The first election came and the people did not get what they wanted; obviously, they are discouraged and expected.

“But whatever it is, it’s still good. You can’t force people to go vote. But I’m happy with the way it’s going. The security agents are doing what they are supposed to do,” he said.

Apathy greeted the elections for governor and house of assembly in the state despite the anticipated arrival of electoral material and INEC officials at the polling stations.
