Firefighters work to put out fire in Coachella date palm forest – KESQ


More than a dozen date palms caught fire Thursday morning, smoldering in a grove near Dillon Road in Coachella.

Firefighters were called there at 3:59 a.m.

The immediate cause of the fire that burned 15 trees was not determined, but firefighting personnel were on the scene using water hoses to spray blackened trees and dousing piles of palm fronds and other burning debris.

There were no reports of injuries.
