What a night for Seattle Kraken hockey, featuring the AHL affiliate Coachella Valley Firebirds.

THE BIRDS OF FIRE FLY BEYOND THE EAGLES IN THE BATTLE OF THE BIRDS

The Firebirds defeated the Colorado Eagles in Game 1 6-2 in Loveland, CO to take a 1-0 series lead into the second round of the 2023 Calder Cup Playoffs.

Eddie Wittchow scored twice as Firebirds captain Max McCormick put together a three-point night in Colorado’s Coachella Valley win.

Joey Daccord made 25 saves in the win that gave the Firebirds a 1–0 series lead.

KARTYE’S GOAL IN HIS NHL DEBUT, WINS KRAKEN ABOUT THE AVALANCHE

It’s also worth mentioning that the Seattle Kraken defeated the defending Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche in Game 5 of the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Kraken’s victory was highlighted by Tye Kartye’s goal in his NHL debut.

Kartye, 21, had a special season with the Firebirds, earning AHL Most Outstanding Rookie honors.

Kartye and the Kraken hold a 3-2 Avalanche series lead with Game 6 on Friday in Seattle at Climate Pledge Arena.
