A Southern California man was treating thousands of patients, including those with cancer, without a medical license, prosecutors allege, until he was caught by an undercover investigator.

The “doctor” was discovered after an undercover officer visited the clinic in November and obtained a consultation in which Gevorkian “failed to accurately address allegedly abnormal levels of a hormone that could indicate a serious medical condition.”
Gevorkian has been charged with five counts of practicing medicine without a license.
Lawyers for the man oppose the prosecutor’s allegations, saying: “Any suggestion that Mr. Gevorkian posed as a doctor in an effort to mislead and treat unsuspecting patients is misleading and demonstrably false.”

On its social media pages, Pathways Medical describes itself as an alternative medicine provider specializing in intravenous vitamin therapy.
Prosecutors say Gevorkian saw patients with “serious conditions” for years and treated illnesses such as viral infections for people with cancer.
“The company performs blood tests on patients, advises them on treatments and provides treatment for serious conditions,” read a press release.
The undercover agent entered the company on November 17, 2022, and received results that investigators say raised red flags.
The doctor and those in his office did not notice “abnormal levels of a hormone that could indicate a serious medical condition,” the statement said.
It’s unclear what the police noticed first, but several years ago a Yelp reviewer questioned the legitimacy of the doctor’s title.
“I think Dr. G is a scammer,” wrote Yelp reviewer Nicole B. wrote in 2021.
“The only thing that was ‘good’ about my blood work was my vitamin D level. DAMN? Sitting here looking at my estimation of treatments coming out in just under 5K… I ran,” the woman wrote.
So that’s my story about Dr. G……… please don’t be tempted to support this office and these rude people,” he continued.

By all other accounts, the “Doctor” was beloved in his community.
Pathways has received dozens of rave patient reviews since 2019 and currently has a 4.5-star rating on Yelp.
‘This place is amazing. They really know what they are doing and DrG is a game changer in the natural world,” someone wrote in February.
“This company is great,” another reviewer wrote. “The doctor was very kind and he understood my concerns.”
‘I’ve been coming here for years and I can’t say enough great things about Dr.G and his staff. They go above and beyond and provide unparalleled results and services,” said one woman in 2019.
The five-star reviews did not stop the investigation and complaint against Gevorkian, which was filed on April 19.
Gevorkian’s attorneys were later notified of the order.
Gevorkian was indicted Friday on the charges against him and was later released by his own admission. As long as you don’t practice medicine.
Gevorkian was never arrested, an DA spokesman told local media.

Gevorkian’s attorney, Justin E. Sterling, told ABC7 Los Angeles: “Criminal charges, by their very nature, are unproven allegations.”
“It is important to recognize that what is considered known or understood at the beginning is not always so at the end. Mr. Gevorkian is complying with all court orders and looks forward to vigorously defending himself against these allegations.”
Gevorkian will appear before a judge on May 24 for his first hearing.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office is currently seeking additional victims.
