Former Enugu State Governor Chimaroke Nnamani lost his Senate bid to Kelvin Chukwu of the Labor Party (LP).
In the result sheets seen by the Peoples Gazette, Nnamani got 48,701 votes while Chukwu got 69,136.
The election, which was supposed to take place on March 25 as part of the 2023 national presidential and parliamentary elections, was postponed to allow the LP to choose a replacement for Oyibo Chukwu, the party’s candidate for senator for the district, who he was horribly murdered days before. the chose.
Mr Chukwu was succeeded by his brother, Kelvin, who, according to several experts, will now realize his brother’s dream of removing Mr Nnamani, who had desperately sought to maintain his political base.
Mr. Nnamani had been suspended by the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) for engaging in anti-partisan activities.
