Cristian Romero has published in instagram “We won’t get tired of trying” after Tottenham Hotspur’s 3-3 draw at Southampton on Saturday, which resulted in Antonio Conte verbally unleashing how the club is running and its players’ weak-mindedness.
Tottenham led 3-1 at St Mary’s, only to walk away with a point against the relegation-threatened team, after James Ward-Prowse’s stoppage-time penalty.
After the match, Conte criticized Tottenham’s mentality, the players, those sitting on the top of the tree and their lack of trophies under the management of Daniel Levy.
A typical day for Italian, then?!
It was yet another woeful performance from Spurs, after being recently knocked out of the Champions League by AC Milan and the FA Cup to Championship side Sheffield United.
Well, Romero published the following message on his IG after the Santos draw: “There are many things to improve, but we will not get tired of trying, we will get up and try again. I love the players on my team, I love them and my club, I know we are going to move forward and time and everyone’s work together will tell us where we are going. I haven’t been here for a long time, but we are going to be together to achieve important things, more years may pass but we will try”.
In the comments section of his IG post, Romero’s international teammate Angel di Maria simply posted fire emojis, while Sergio Reguilon added ‘Great, Cuti.’
WHAT’S NEXT FOR THE SPURS?
It is quite clear that Conte does not care about the consequences of his words after he made his feelings known following Tottenham’s draw at Southampton.
It’s pretty pathetic for a club, trying to work for the long term, to be so short term that their current manager’s contract runs out in the summer and their star striker Harry Kane has 12 months left on his contract in June.
Things will only get worse if Liverpool and Newcastle United come after them because they are surely rubbing their hands watching all this unfold from the north side of London.
