(NewsNation) — Tucker Carlson launched a statement after being fired by Fox News.
He did not address the cable network directly, but said in the statement that the US media does not allow “legitimate debates” and that those seen on television are “unbelievably stupid.”
Good evening, I’m Tucker Carlson. One of the first things you realize when you get out of the noise for a few days is how many genuinely nice people there are in this country. Kind, decent people, people who really care about the truth. And a lot of hilarious people, too. Lots of those. It has to be the majority of the population, even now. That’s encouraging. The other thing you notice when you take a little time off is how unbelievably stupid most of the debates you see on TV are. They are completely irrelevant. They mean nothing. In five years, we won’t even remember we had them. Trust me, as someone who has participated. And yet, at the same time, and this is the amazing thing, the undeniably important issues, the ones that will define our future, are hardly discussed at all. War. civil liberties. emerging science. Demographic change. Corporate power. Natural resources. When was the last time you heard a legitimate debate on any of those topics? It has been a long time. Debates like that are not allowed in the American media. Both political parties and their donors have come to a consensus on what is in their best interest, and are actively colluding to shut down any conversations about it. Suddenly, the United States looks a lot like a one-party state. That is a depressing realization, but it is not permanent. Our current orthodoxies will not last. They are brain dead. Actually, no one believes them. Almost no one improves life with them. This moment is too inherently ridiculous to continue. And so it will not be. Those responsible know it; that is why they are hysterical and aggressive. they are afraid. They have given up persuasion. They are resorting to force. But it won’t work. When honest people speak the truth, calmly and without shame, they become powerful. At the same time, the liars, who have been trying to silence them, shrink and become weaker. That is the iron law of the universe. True things prevail. Where can you still find Americans saying true things? There aren’t many places left, but there are a few. And that’s enough. As long as you can hear the words, there is hope. See you soon.

The cable network ousted the prime-time host on Monday, whose political theories on Russia and the Jan. 6 riots had grown to make him an influential force in Republican politics.
Fox said the network and Carlson had “agreed to part ways” but offered no explanation for the move. Carlson’s sudden departure is being greeted as good news by Republicans who support US intervention in the Ukraine war.
