The hit anime franchise concludes its second season in May 2022, following an incredible finale that included one of Demon Slayer’s most impressive fight scenes.
The spinoff/sequel film Demon Slayer: Demon Slayer also had an extraordinary 12 months thanks to the overwhelming success of Mugen Train. Mugen Train was a hit at the international box office and became the highest-grossing Japanese film of all time upon its release in 2020.
So now that the dust has settled in the entertainment district, what does the future hold for Tanjiro? Here’s everything we know about the third season of Demon Slayer.

it’s official! Demon Slayer Season 3 launches in Japan on April 9. A follow-up date for an international release via Crunchyroll has yet to be announced.
We also now know that the Swordsmith Village arc will kick off with a special hour-long episode instead of the standard 22-minute runtime.
The first episode of the third season of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba will also air early as part of a global ‘theater screening event’ (similar to the situation with Mugen Train) that will include episodes 10 and 11 of the second season of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. demon slayer. Demon Slayer Season 3 Cast: Who Is In Demon Slayer Season 3?
Thanks to a new trailer and some plot details, we can assume that most of the cast members from the first and second seasons will return. Mist Hashira, Muichiro Tokito and Love Hashira, Mitsuri Kanaroji will be the two main additions, first introduced in episode 21 of the first season.

Demon Slayer Season 3 Plot: What will happen in Demon Slayer Season 3?
The third season of Demon Slayer will focus on the Swordsmith Village arc, the ninth arc of the original manga.
It’s worth noting that the Demon Slayer manga officially ended in 2020, providing a unique situation for anime fans where they can find out (roughly) what the future holds for Tanjiro and the gang.
The Swordsmith Village arc begins directly after the Entertainment District arc, ending with Tanjiro and Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui defeating the demon brothers Gyutaro and Daiki.
Luckily, the only permanent casualty of this epic battle was Tanjiro’s demon sword.
In the third season of Demon Slayer, Tanjiro will travel to the Swordsmith Village to have his sword repaired by Hotaru Haganzuka.
While Tanjiro and company will of course be surrounded by hordes of demons (including an Upper Rank Six that splits into multiple bodies). Fortunately, Mist Hashira, Muichiro Tokito, steps in to handle the threat.

An official trailer for the third season of Demon Slayer has been released, which you can watch below, along with the show’s release date. The trailer is more of a tease than anything else, but it shows off some of the series’ signature action and gives us our first look at the Love and Mist Hashiras.
