Cam’ron has recalled being warned about Bill O’Reilly’s “asshole” before their famous interview in 2003.
“Oh Boy” rapper and Roc-A-Fella co-founder Dame Dash sat down for an interview with O’Reilly on his Fox News show “The O’Reilly Factor” to discuss the effects of rap music in American youth.
After introducing Cam’ron as “a Grammy nominee” who raps about “pimps and bitches”, O’Reilly suggested that the rapper’s music encourages gun violence and “hurts kids”.
Cam’ron and Dash tried to respond to O’Reilly’s claims, but were continually interrupted by the host, who at one point got angry and loudly told them to “wait.”
At which point, Cam’ron shot back at O’Reilly: “Why don’t you want to let him talk? You’re mad, mad, mad! When did you start covering the field? I got you dirty, doggie.”
Reflecting on the interview during a recent appearance on the “KFC Radio” podcast, Cam’ron said Roc-A-Fella officials warned him about O’Reilly.
“They’re like, ‘Hey Cam, he’s a jerk. I’m telling you this!'” the rapper recalled. “I’m like, ‘I don’t give a shit.’ It’s me, so I don’t care when I go up, but the whole Roc-A-Fella staff is trying to warn me like, ‘Okay, Cam,’ and I really did give a damn.”
“So basically we get there and the first thing he says is, ‘Cam’ron, known for rhyming about pimps and bitches.’ And I’m like, ‘I bet he’s on!'” He Added. “From the jump! And that’s how it all happened. As soon as they set me up, as soon as he said, ‘Cam’ron rhymes about pimps and bitches,’ I said, ‘Yeah, we’re going to have a good time.'”
Cam’ron also revealed that he was supposed to do the interview without Dame Dash, but the music mogul insisted on accompanying him.
“So, I remember being in the office and Dame walks into the office like, ‘Hey, are you going to Bill O’Reilly tomorrow?’ And I said, ‘Yeah, I’m leaving tomorrow.’ And Dame goes, ‘I don’t know if you’re ready by yourself, I’m going with you. No, I’m definitely going with you because you don’t know these kinds of people,'” she said.
O’Reilly was fired from Fox News in 2017 after The New York Times reported that he and Fox News had paid five women approximately $13 million to settle various sexual misconduct lawsuits.
talking to noisey Shortly after O’Reilly was fired, Cam’ron said he was aware of the allegations against the host at the time of his 2003 interview, for which he said, “I got dirt on you, doggie.”
“As for all the sexual accusations, before I went there, what I did was my publicist had told me a lot of those things, but instead of being serious with him, we had so much fun clowning him around that he just became a barbecue session and we started laughing at him,” the rapper said.
“It was probably prepared an hour before going to the show,” he added. “It was more fun than anything else. But you know, sexual assault really isn’t fun, so if he really did those things, then it’s a good thing Fox got rid of him.”
