President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his sincere condolences to the family, friends and associates of Peter Enahoro, one of Nigeria’s most prominent journalists.
Enahoro died Tuesday at the age of 88.
On Tuesday, the president made his sentiments known in a statement from his press aide Femi Adesina.
Enahoro, “as a gifted and iconic journalist, author, and editor, earned the public’s trust through his fearless writing, tenacity, and commitment to the search for the truth,” the statement said.
Mr. Buhari recognized that the passion of the former editor-in-chief and CEO of the Daily Times was second to none.
Mr. Enahoro also served as deputy publicity officer at the Information Department (now the federal information ministry) and pioneer president of the National Broadcasting Commission.
Mr. Buhari also praised the late man for using his knowledge and expertise to mentor people who have also added value to journalism in the country.
The president urged those mourning Mr. Enahoro to reflect on his contributions to the country and take advantage of the many honors attributed to him for his journalistic excellence.
“May Peter Pan’s soul rest in peace,” Mr. Buhari prayed.
