The president’s chief of staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, said on Saturday that President Muhammadu Buhari is committed to a peaceful transition.
Speaking to reporters in Ilorin after casting his ballot at polling unit 004 in Akanbi district, South Ilorin local government area, Professor Gambari welcomed the peaceful conduct of the election and praised voters for their orderly conduct.
“I am happy, the election has been very peaceful, calm. I want to ask our people to conduct themselves in an orderly manner during the entire election period. One of the legacies that President Muhammadu Buhari wants to bequeath to Nigeria is free and credible elections. Mr. President is committed to a peaceful transition,” Gambari said.
He urged the president-elect to uphold Buhari’s legacies in economic transformation and maintaining peace and order across the country.
