Granit Xhaka, Arsenal’s experienced midfielder, is set to leave the club this summer.
The Gunners are looking to add new faces to their squad and have hooked up with a number of midfielders.
Mikel Arteta will guide the club in its return to the Champions League for the first time in seven years, hence the need to bring in more experienced players.
A talkSPORT report said this could ultimately spell the end of Switzerland’s international time at the club.
Alex Crook, TalkSPORT’s chief football transfer expert: “Granit Xhaka is interesting because I think when you look at this link first with Bayer Leverkusen, you’d say: ‘Well, that can’t happen.’
“He only has one year left on his contract.
“We know that Mikel Arteta is looking to revamp that midfield area. There is a good chance they will return for Moises Caicedo in Brighton.
“If a big money offer came through, for a decent fee, for a player in the last year of his contract, I think Arsenal could be tempted.”
