He Congress of all progressives (APC) has discredited the report on the grounds that it has zoned the position of the Senate Presidency in the geopolitical Northwest.
The report had favored Senator Barau Jibrin, who is serving a third term in the Senate and had spent one term in the House of Representatives.
However, the party’s national chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, described the report as fake news.
Addressing reporters at his residence in Keffi, Nasarawa state, Adamu said no such thing had happened.
He said, “The report on the arrangement of zones for the X National Assembly is false news. We haven’t done any zoning.
“I have said it times without number since Monday. I keep saying the same thing. No zoning has yet been established or agreed upon. No zoning has been made public. Anyone who says anything is a rumor. It is an illusory rumor”.
The party’s national publicity secretary, Felix Morka, in a statement titled ‘APC has not yet zoned the key posts of the 10th National Assembly’, described the report of the zoning arrangements as false and misleading.
morka said, “The attention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to a report circulating on social media about the alleged zoning of key posts of the upcoming 10th National Assembly. The report is false and misleading and should be ignored in its entirety.
“The party has not made any decisions on the zoning of offices or offices of the 10th Assembly. As soon as a decision on zoning is made, it will be made public through the party’s official communication channel.”
The ‘false’ report claimed that the zoning decision was made last Friday night by APC leaders after consulting with the president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
added, “The decision takes precedence over previous suggestions in some quarters to split the position in the south.”
