Binani Campaign Council Coordinator Vrati Nzonzo has defended the suspended Resident Election Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) in Adamawa state, Hudu Yunusa Ari.

The APC chief, while appearing live on Channels Television’s Politics Today program on Tuesday, insisted that Ari, who is said to have usurped the constitutional role of teller, was not wrong.

“As far as I’m concerned, it’s fine. If Mr. Hudu announced that the election was inconclusive, why won’t he announce the winner of the election?
“When he announced the first election as inconclusive, nobody said anything. Mr. Festus Okoye did not appear on national television to condemn him, but when in the second round he announced the distinguished senator Aishatu Binani as the winner of the election, everything broke loose”.
Speaking further, he stated that Binani is being “victimized” because she is a woman, and the courts will decide the matter.
He added that “As far as we are concerned, there seems to be a very biased position against our candidate. And he is unlucky.
“As far as we’re concerned, she’s being witch-hunted and she’s being drowned using the media and other people that are out there to victimize her, it may be because she’s a woman. We are proud of her and her accomplishment.”
