Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has admitted that it would be difficult for the All Progressives Congress (APC) to defeat his Oyo State counterpart Seyi Makinde in 2023.
This was stated by El-Rufai at the commemoration and farewell ceremony organized on Friday by the outgoing director general of the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Nteranya Sanginga.
However, the governor of Kaduna said that APC will do everything possible to overthrow Makinde, but it will be difficult because he has ruled well.
Both governors recounted how they argued during a National Executive Council (NEC) session about whether to shut down their states amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
“After that debate, I went back to my status and blocked it. Seyi (Makinde) returned to his state and did a partial confinement. But he locked himself up because he got COVID.
“In my state, I did what I felt was the right thing to do and he did what was best for his state.
“We will do our best to defeat you. But I know it will be difficult because he has been a good governor,” El-Rufai said.
