A 14-year-old girl was found with self-inflicted knife wounds at the home of Senator Ted Cruz.

Police were seen outside Cruz’s River Oaks home in Houston, Texas, around 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, after the girl was discovered with injuries to her arms.

A representative for the Senator said the incident was a “family matter” and that Cruz’s daughters were doing well, according to ABC 13.

“This is a family matter and luckily your daughter is doing well. There were no serious injuries. The family requests that the media respect the privacy of her daughter at this time,” the statement said.

The Houston Police Department also said there was “no criminal activity” and that it was “not a family violence issue.”

Cruz has two daughters, Catherine, 11, and Caroline, 14. It’s unclear if Caroline was the person injured.

The senator is currently in Washington DC and it is unknown if he will travel home following the incident, KHOU-11 reported.

The girl was taken to the hospital for treatment and there were no serious injuries.

In January, Caroline, then 13, came out as bisexual, saying she disagreed with much of her father’s politics.

The teen said people are quick to judge her for her Republican father’s politics, even though she often takes issue with his conservative views.

“A lot of people judge me based on him at first glance,” he said on a TikTok. “But I really don’t agree with most of his views.”

He also revealed the pros and cons of having a father in the public eye, calling out his media team for editing his shirt length on the family Christmas card.

Caroline, whose TikTok account @_caro_iguess_ has since gone private, began gaining new followers after people identified her as the eldest daughter of the Texas senator.

The teen made the video, which was re-shared on Twitter after several TikTokers questioned what it was like to be Cruz’s daughter.

Offering insight into her family life, Caroline made a list of pros and cons.

Highlighting the positives, he said: ‘Some of the good things are that we get sweets and gifts in the post. Sometimes we also travel.

However, Caroline’s ‘bad things’ list was more detailed, highlighting her high-security life, appearance expectations, and public perception of her beliefs.

“I literally have to have security following me everywhere,” he said.

Caroline said she often disagrees with her conservative father’s views and described the difficulties of being his daughter in a now-viral TikTok video in January 2022.

‘Like if I want to take a walk around the neighborhood or go to a friend’s house or something, I have to have like two security guards behind me all the time.’

Caroline’s TikTok account went private after her video was blown up, but not before social media users took screenshots of her bio, in which she listed her pronouns as she/her and indicated that she identified herself. as bisexual.

Asked by another user about her sexuality and if Cruz was aware, Caroline replied: “I haven’t told him yet, I’m a little nervous, but I don’t think he’ll be mad about it.”
